MARGARET

My model is …

This is my very dear friend of 25 years, Maria Augustus-Dunn. She is an extremely strong woman, willing to try anything, loyal, dependable, as honest as the day is long and much more. She is also the author of a humorous, emotional and down-to-earth book which was published last year called Married Quarter, describing her life experiences as the wife of a serving Australian soldier.

GIFT

My feminine model of inspiration is a famous woman called Oprah Winfrey. She is a great inspiration to me for what she has done in her life career, and mostly for what she has done for others. Her quotes are very inspirational to me. Some examples:

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
“Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don’t fight them. Just find a new way to stand.”

And those quotes stand out for me.

JESSICA

The most inspirational woman in my life is my mum, Freda. She has been by my side all the way throughout my life. She has battled her own health problems and still manages to look after me. She is the strongest woman I know and I love her very much. My mum is more than my mum, she is also my best friend.

CALLAN

My model is …

My mother Vikki brought me and my brother up, through all the joys and trials of life. When my brother and I had both started university, she left home and moved to pursue her passion of living in the bush and ridding horses. She has always been there and would travel the distance to be there with me and my brother.

CASSIE

Meshel Laurie comes across as a very down-to-earth woman. She is humble and gracious. She is able to laugh at herself and admit when she is wrong. She always keeps perspective and realises when other people are less fortunate. She respects the opinions and experiences of others and holds strong values herself.
